Gucci and Jackie Kennedy who loved Rome

Yesterday the Milan fashion week opened with the Gucci catwalk. Frida Giannini, the roman creative director, presented a Jackie Kennedy's style girl. Short skirts but not too much, furs in pale colours, beautiful boots to wear day and night. Big sunglasses. Jackie Kennedy used to wear this way especially when she was coming in Rome in the historical boutique in via Condotti. This is exactly what Frida wanted to remind us, the history of Gucci linked to the history of the italian elegance.

GATTINONI IN A CLOUD

One of the highligths of Rome Fashion Week was the Haute Couture défilé of Gattinoni. One of the few shows that were released in the international press as Stefano Dominella (CEO of the brand) explained on the italian TV (Rai 2), just two days ago. The défilé took place at the Nuvola (the Cloud), the new Conference Centre in EUR designed by the architects Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas.  An amazing place that will opened in the next monthes (hopefully). Let's talk now about the dresses by Guillermo Mariotto, the creative director of Gattinoni. The fil rouge was lightness, transparency and grace. No doubt we were in a Cloud! I saw lots of veils, organza and tulle. Dresses were  white, light green and blue chesterfield. Most of them in pure linen with embroidery. Nice accessories such as headwear and amazing sculpture-jewelry designed by Gianni de Benedettis. Gattinoni atelier is in via Sardegna. You can visit it with www.grandtourshopping.com

FOUR HANDS FOR SHOPPING

Massimo Noli and Nicola Frau are two italian designers that showed their ready to wear collection during Rome Fashion Week. After working individually they joined creating "Quattro Mani" which means Four Hands. They focused on geometry, contrast between colours and fabrics. The result is a good choice of knee lenght dresses, pant suits, sporty parkas and pencil skirts. Lines are clean and there is a wide variety of grosgrain, crepe de chine, poplin, nylon and technonappa. Photocredit Luca Sorrentino. www.quattromanifashionproject.blogspot.com
