The 4th of December starts the Toulouse Lautrec exhibition in Ara Pacis. Over 170 masterpieces coming from the Budapest Museum of Beaux Arts. A lot of affiches, posters and the first advertising campaign. Some are extremely rare because they were done by the artist in limited edition. Considered one of the brightest illustrator of his time, Toulouse Lautrec portrayed Balls at Moulin Rouge, french can can and other aspects of parisian life from the end of the XIXth Century to the beginning of the XXth. The exhibition will last until the 8th of May. Not to be missed. www.arapacis.it
NOT ONLY SHOPPING, ALSO THE HISTORY OF ITALY AND USA
This afternoon the weather in Rome is supposed to be bad. Shopping with my clients from Hotel de Russie might be really painfull. A good alternative could be to take them to visit "War is Over" at Palazzo Braschi. It is an amazing photo exhibition with about 140 pictures from the Istituto Luce and the U.S.Signal Corps. The photos were shooted between 1943 and 1946, some are them were never shown. I went to see it yesterday afternoon and I discover a lot of things such as that the Viareggio rail station had been bombed, that the American had a kind of fascination for "The Bel Paese" even if it was completely destroyed. You can do some shopping buying the nice and interesting catalogue published by Contrasto.
Andrea Incontri, a good reason to go to Fashion Week in Milano
One of the reason to go to Fashion Weeks in Milano, London, New York, Paris is to check Who is on Next as the famous Vogue Talent competition calls it. This time the gold medal is going to Andrea Incontri. Not so famous yet even though he designs the men's collection for Tod's, he is a great talent that will explode in short-medium term. In Milano I saw something new in terms of fabrics and shapes. Andrea Incontri plays with fringes, mirrors, paillettes in a good balance between beauty and technology. www.andreaincontri.com
