In Rome, the official date for the sales season was yesterday, the 5th of January. Actually things were moving before. The funny thing is that they don't call them "Sales" but "Promotions" which means exactly the same. I took a group of three Australian ladies the 2nd of January and we had great opportunities especially for bags in Vicolo Savelli and in different boutiques in via del Governo Vecchio. Yesterday I accidentally passed through Via del Corso, extremely crowded. Too crowded. For Shopping mornings are generally better than afternoon. I also suggest to look for sales on classic items, things that you can keep for few years. Plus better to have a glance in the high standard boutiques and try to purchase items from famous brands : it is the only way to re-sell them later on Ebay, on consignment stores or at the flea market.
ROME WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP ON SHOPPING
Few days ago, the press agency ADN KRONOS published an interested survey among italian shoppers. Different newspapers published it. A real roman Spa
While you are shopping in Rome a good break can be done in a SPA. One of my favourite is called ACQUA MADRE and it is the closest possible experience to the real one, where ancient romans used to go. In latin they called it Thermae. Acqua Madre has been restaured from a Medieval porch and a roman temple. It is located behind piazza Venezia, in via di Sant'Ambrogio, 17. There are hammam, massages and a boutique with different kind of beauty products such as Argan oil, black soap made with olive oil and home perfumes. A great experience.
