EXCLUSIVE SHOPPING IN STELLA Mc CARTNEY'S ROMAN BOUTIQUE

One of my favourite street for shopping in Rome is via Borgognona. If you go there, you will bump into Stella Mc Cartney's gorgeous store. She came in Rome for the inauguration in 2011 and most of the pieces, especially the shoes are Made in Italy. The prices are quite high but you can find good deals during the sales in July. She also has one store in Milano. The deco is vey simple and you can see extremely well outfits and accessories. The boutique has 100 squaremeters

Stella Mc Cartney does not use animal leather for shoes or bags. The blond actress, Cate Blanchett,  wore Mc Cartney's sunglasses at the Festival de Cannes. In the last week we had big talks on two english designers. One is the extremely talented and less famous Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy who made the wedding gown for Meghan Markle and the other one is Stella Mc Cartney, the daughter of Paul,  that made dresses for the Royal Wedding to Amal Clooney, the bride Meghan Markle now Duchess of Sussex (for the afternoon's reception) and the TV star Oprah Winfrey.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a custom made white dress with high neck and open shoulders. It was in silk crepe. Some journalists said that She was looking like a Bond Girl. It might be true but also the car and Prince Harry were part of the scene. Too bad Sean Connery was not there. Amal Clooney, the wife of George, had a yellow dress draped on the side in silk cady. Her hat was made by Stephen Jones. I think the colour was too bright. If we want  to continue with the critics, we can also say that Oprah's dress  was too tight on the bust and, in my opinion, the pale pink made her bigger than She is. Her dress was custom made by Stella too. Generally speaking a good success for Ms Mc Cartney. I bet that her roman boutique will be more visited in the next weeks.

SHOPPING IN ROME IN JIMMY CHOO

Two days ago, I was with Paula, a californian client that I took shopping in Rome. She told me that her favourite shoe brand was Jimmy Choo. The good new is that they just re-opened the boutique in via Condotti.

The renovation has both enhanced and expanded the original space. It was necessary because before, it was really small, always packed with women trying high hills and sandals. Now it comprises 80 sqm. The full women's collection of shoes, handbags, eyewear, small leather goods and fragrances is now spread in three rooms. The yellow travertine, typical of the Roman palaces, are used in the thresholds and the portals passing from one hall to another.

Jimmy Choo became famous worldwide because of the Tv series called "Sex and the City" but in the fashion world everybody knew it before that. It is a luxury accessories brand where the women's shoes remain the core of the business. CEO Pierre Denis and the creative director Sandrai Choi works together. They count more than 150 stores. It is part of the Michael Kors Holdings Limited luxury fashion group.

SOON IN ROME THE PRADA RESORT COLLECTION

If there is something to be proud about shopping in Rome, is the gorgeous Prada boutique for men and women. It is located in via Condotti. The company just sent us the pictures of the new women resort collection 2019.

Nicole Phelps from Vogue Runway considered it as excellent and wrote an enthusiastic review. The first time I really discovered Prada was in the Nineties, when I was living in New York.  Miuccia Prada made in the Big Apple a great come back. She staged her show in the  Piano Factory the house's own New York headquarters on May 4th. The architects are Herzog and De Meuron on West 52nd street. She also hosted a table few days later at the Met Gala.

She showed the "ugly prints" that were iconics in the Nineties. She called them that way in the spring 1996 collection.  She presented also lovely tailleurs, colourful collants and extravagant hats. Everything was updated to our time. A good mix of sports jerseys, Tshirts, zip polos and tailored coats. "It is my fantasy on what today for me is real" said Miuccia to the WWD. A collection of practical clothes to wear and feel confortable. Something special and extremely contemporary. She gives a good image to Italy in the world in an extremely delicate moment for my country. In Milano do not miss the great exhibition at Fondazìone Prada dedicated to Art between the end of the First World War up to the Fourties. Powerful and prestigious. Grazie Miuccia.
