The great photographer Steven Meisel the author of the new Miu Miu advertising campaing for Spring Summer. Cinematic storytelling and the interconnected narratives of three fearless and beautiful actresses such as Mia Goth, Imogen Poots and Marine Vatch. The set details -antique wallpapers, dark wood furniture, an unmade bed-create a sense of home. Fashion is there with the cardigan, the tube-skirt, pajama suits and ruffled blouses slashed to the mid-drift. Bowed mules, large platforms, glitter-framed glasses and supple leather bags complete the story. Each actress plays a role and looking in on them, we see the collection as the narrative force of the story, and the true power of fashion as a communicator of fresh ideas and ideologies.
JEWELS AS DESTINY
I discover a new jewelry designer through my colleague and friend from Marie Claire: Antonio Mancinelli. He is roman but lives in Milan because of his work in the newsroom for the fashion magazine. He came in Rome a couple of weeks ago for the MAXXI party on Italian Fashion. Between a glass of champagne and a sushi roll, he told me about Fabio d'Andrea. This guy just opened a new spot in Rome in via della Chiesa Nuova 2A, under a romantic arch. He proposes jewels made of casualty. They are like oracles that change if you ask them a question. They are moveable jewels in silver made in Italy, especially in Arezzo. The brand name is fatadeum. A great spot to discover with www.grandtourshoppin.com
Bellissima, a nice fashion exhibition in Rome
It is very rare that fashion exhibition are glamourous. Generally they look old and vintage. This is not the case for "Bellissima the Italian Haute Couture from 1945-1968" in Rome at the Maxxi in via Guido Reni 4A. The dresses from Emilio Pucci, Valentino, Irene Galitzine, Roberto Capucci etc. are not put under glasses (which is great) but on mannequins. They are not simply standing, they can be seated or in movement. The decor is post modern and industrial. In addition some jewels from Bulgari The exhibition presents also videos from La Dolce Vita, Cronaca di un Amore etc.. In addition some paintings from Burri, Fontana, Campigli to explain an era where art, cinema, fashion and life style where linked. The exhibition will last until the 3rd of May.
