A TASTE OF BRUNELLO

One of the reason to go to Florence for the Pitti Fair is to understand where the men fashion world is going. Especially the italian one. One of the most interesting entrepreneur who comes there, twice a year, is Brunello Cucinelli. His stand is one of the most visited and he always organized a dinner with press and buyers. This time we were at the Botanical Gardens on a beautiful Liberty greenhouse.

The new collection is the Spring-Summer 2019. We will have it in the stores in about a year but it is worth to have a glance of it before. That's why we are here. Brunello was inspired by the Roaring Twenties. The Great Gatsby or a movie like Charriots of Fire.  At that time formal elegance, for the first time, was influenced from the sports, especially tennis and golf. The sartorial contours of the suits make an intelligent use of fabrics and are blended with sports details. Shirts with colorful patterns and superligh sweatshirts. Safari Jackets are made of linen or nylon, college bombers are in cotton poplin. We also love college bombers in cotton poplin to express this versatile style. The palette is colonial: white, panama, sand, caramel, cubano and tobacco. This time Brunello added lavender, basil, raspberry and radicchio.

We are also waiting for the men's shoes: from the classic derbies to the newest sneakers.  In the mean time you can always go shopping for men and women in the two roman stores: one is in via del Babuino 150/D and the other one in Via Borgognona 33.

FINALLY ERES IN ROME. A GREAT NEW FOR SHOPPING.

Rome was waiting for Erès. The luxury french swim and lingerie brand opened its newest boutique in via del Babuino 65. The 590 square feet store will be the brand's first store in the Eternal City. It is the 66th stand-alone retail place worldwide. My clients from www.grandtourshopping.com will find there right now the Spring Summer swim and lingerie collection.

Thursday night was an exciting evening in Rome with lots of vernissage going now. In Erès at the cocktail party about two hundred people, especially roman ladies searching for the plain, extremely essential bathing suits. Major colours were yellow, beige, blue, black and pink. You can also get pareos and skirts to accessorize them. The brand has been a force in the swimwear world for more than fourty years. By the way let's spend some words also on the lingerie. Very graphic simple designs and a good balance between style and technique. I like this brand because it is based on the Art of the Body, they enphasize the women curves and enhance its coutours.

Even Flavia Fiorentino from The Corriere della Sera wrote today an article on the opening of Erès in Rome. She explained that in Milano the boutique opened about ten years ago. The roman store is not too big. The light is perfect to see the items. When you get there ask the saleswomen to open the drawings, a lot more models are there. The Tax free is already working.  A great spot in the roman shopping world.

ISAIA, A PIECE OF NAPLES IN THE ROMAN SHOPPING WORLD

Isaia is a tailoring italian brand for gentlemen. Born in Naples in the Twenties, they opened last week their first store in Rome. It is a good thing for my foreigners clients who constantly ask me for a nice, italian suit. Isaia is now in via Bocca di Leone 68, not far from the Spanish Steps. Gianluca Isaia, the CEO ( Third generation by the way) said :" We are proud to bring our Napolitan heritage and personality to Rome".

 

The boutique has been designed by Ferrari Architetti and decorated by the interior designer Alberta Saladino. About 200 sqm, the boutique has furnitures coming from the Bay of Naples. We loved the red Billiard table that you can see in  the picture below. The layout of the store is divided into five main areas highlighting sportswear, tailored clothing, a Made to Measure room, an open tailor Shop and the Vesuvio VIP room. The shop is located in a Seventeenth Century palace with renovations occured later on. When you visit the store do not miss the Vaults and the wooden front door.

Isaia has two other stores in Italy: one in Milano and  the other one in Capri. I personally discovered them in Firenze during the Pitti Fair dedicated to Men's fashion. The Brand Isaia is distributed all over the world especially in USA, Canada, United Kingdom, China, Russia, Japan and different european countries. It will be  very interesting to see how italian and foreigners will react on this new tailor italian store in Rome. We will keep you posted.
